Why learn Business Mandarin?

Whether you are a Singaporean who grew up speaking Chinese at home, or have learned Mandarin from scratch at a later age, you’ll recognize that conversing in Chinese and doing business are completely different skills.

The Mandarin you learned in school might give you the skills you need to converse in daily life but what about the Business aspect of the language?

Are you familiar with Chinese seating arrangements? Giving “face” or just the Chinese way of speaking humbly?

The language of business and the language of instruction at schools here are in English, we often lack the appropriate Chinese vocab. If you have studied business law, or are working in shipping, you’ll know what the term “FOB Shanghai” means. But what is it in Chinese?

The Chinese business mind works differently and knowing the Chinese business context can be even more helpful than knowing the right words.

I enjoyed my studies with Yi Mandarin and will recommend anyone who wishes to improve your Mandarin for Business usage. The topics are relevant and all my queries are answered thoughtfully by my trainer.

I took a term of Business Mandarin before my departure to Shanghai and went on for 2 more terms via online learning. The studies have adequately prepared me for the intricacies of Chinese cultures. It is not that much in new vocabulary but the understanding of our Chinese counterpart that has prepared me greatly for what is to come for my China tour
